Are the food containers recyclable?
Even better, our food trays, lids, and portion cups are all certified compostable. Just toss them in the trash and they’ll return to nature.
What about the rest of the packaging?
The meal sleeves, user guide, boxes, and insulation are all curbside recyclable. To dispose of the ice packs just cut the product open, throw the gel away (biodegradable over time), rinse the plastic, and recycle it. The ice packs are also reusable...
Can I freeze my items?
Yes, all of the packaging will do fine in the freezer. If you do go this route, freeze immediately (to lock in freshness) and try to enjoy within a month.
Do the containers work in the oven or microwave?
Only the fiber trays are safe to heat (up to 375 degrees in the oven). Remove the cardboard meal sleeve, the lid, and any plastic portion cups before heating.
How long will my food stay cold while sealed in the insulated box?
Please transfer your food to the fridge by the end of the day (midnight) on your delivery day. We can only ensure that the food will be kept at proper cold storage temperatures until then.
Will you take my used boxes?
If we’re making a delivery to you and we see any of your used boxes, we’ll take them with us. We’re happy to manage the disposal for you.
Preparation
How do I prepare the food to eat?
Our salads are ready to consume right out of the fridge, but most items need to be reheated. For items that need to be reheated, we recommend the following:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Remove the cardboard sleeve, the lid, and any plastic portion cups before heating.
    Note: The portion cups contain meal complements to be added after heating.

  3. Adult & family meals heat for 17 mins, kids meals for 13 mins.
    Note: For safety reasons, please make sure that the food containers are more than
    2 inches away from any exposed heating elements in the oven.

  4. Carefully remove the meals from the oven and enjoy!
    Note: We like the oven for best quality, but if you’re in a pinch, the microwave will work
    just fine. No lids or portion cups in the microwave either.

How should I serve the food once it’s prepared?
For maximum convenience you can eat right out of the fiber food containers. This is quick, clean, and easy. To take it up a notch, plate the food and enjoy.

Where do your ingredients come from?
Our ingredients are sourced from the highest quality local farms and ranches. For example, we partner with Live Earth Farm (Watsonville) for some of our produce. We’re dedicated to responsible food sourcing and transparency, so expect more in the future as we build our network and share more about our partnerships on our website.
Is all of your food organic?
We use organic ingredients when possible, but being organic is just one of many characteristics we use to evaluate the ingredients that we buy. We believe that food should be minimally processed in order to maintain nutrients and quality, so we prioritize local purveyors who use responsible and sustainable practices when we select our sourcing partners. Please note that we take special care to use organic ingredients with our kids meals and this is called out on our labels.
How long will the food keep in a refrigerated environment?
The FDA suggests a 3-5 day shelf-life for most prepared foods stored in a refrigerated environment (41 degrees Fahrenheit or lower). In order to guarantee the highest standards of quality and freshness, we recommend enjoying your food within 3 days of pick up. All of our food has a ‘best by’ date printed on the label.

How much does delivery cost?
$3.95 per order.
What is your current service area?
With the exception of a few zip codes, we’re currently delivering throughout the Peninsula and South Bay Area.
How do I know if you will deliver to me?
On our website, there’s a place to enter your zip code to check if delivery is available. When you’re in the app, you’ll be able to verify availability when creating your delivery address.
I have a unique delivery address, how can I make sure I get my Shorebox?
There’s a “notes” field for every delivery address that you create. Please use this to convey any special information that will enable delivery.

What happens if I forget my username?
Our usernames are emails. If you forget the email that you used to create your account, send us a note at support@shorebox.com and we’ll do our best to help you identify the proper email associated with your account.
What happens if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, visit the login page in our app. There’s a link to reset your password.
Can I change my password?
Visit the 'my account' section of the app. There you can edit the name, email, and password associated with your account.
What do I do if the app stops working?
Email us at support@shorebox.com and we’ll help you get it working again.
How do I pay, and is it secure?
We accept all major credit and debit cards through a simple checkout experience in our app. We partnered with Stripe in order to offer the most simple and secure payments solution to our customers. How do I change/add my credit card information?
Visit the 'my account → payment' section of the app. There you can add or delete payment options. You can also manage your payment options during checkout by tapping the default payment option and then selecting the changes that you’d like to implement.
